Growing up in Bombay, India has been a special experience, one that I have come to increasingly appreciate after migrating to the United States.
One of the first things that I missed, was the incredible flavor in every dish that emanated from my mother's kitchen. A successful attempt at recreating the cornucopia of heavenly aromas, flavors and textures of a home-cooked meal has always taken me right back to childhood.
In the courtyard of our apartment building was this huge jackfruit tree and the residents received a humungous jackfruit every summer. Childhood memories of playing in the courtyard are always associated with jackfruits. Hence the name.
